#1031 SET REVIEW: Creator 3-in-1 31107 Space Rover Explorer

Today we're reviewing the new Space Rover Explorer set, which released yesterday (June 1st). We were sent this by LEGO but our view is unbiased and we aim to provide a unique review from the perspective of a MOC builder and fan of building techniques. We score sets out of 100, giving 20 points each for a variety of factors. Check out the images for our full technique analysis!

Although we've had plenty of space sets over the years, this Creator sets has a lot of great elements. It features techniques such as suspension on the wheels and an opening hatch to name just a few. The alternate builds are fun and very different from the base models, with a lot more of the pieces used in the space base compared to the other 2 new creator sets. This alternate build also reused these parts in a clever way such as using the windows for a radar disc. The interiors for both models we built are well furnished and feature cute designs for aliens and robots.

However, the inclusion of only 1 minifigure may annoy some for the price point, although minifigures are definitely not the focus of Creator sets. It would have been ideal to have a female astronaut included but you could argue the alien and robots are figures for this set. Apart from this, there aren't many other drawbacks we could find - it's exactly what it says on the tin - a fun collection of space themed builds that in our opinion kids and AFOLs alike will enjoy.
