Marbling is a technique used to include extensive amounts of detail that cannot be attained with regular bricks. Smaller plates such as 1x1 plates are used as you can include a range from colours in the same space as a regular brick.
The detail added can be anything, from moss and graffiti on walls to rust or greenery on floors. It can be effective for pathways that need a mix of natural colours instead of just a solid colour. The 1x1 plates can also be stacked vertically, which only shows the smaller side profile. Because they are smaller you can get more in the same space so more detail can be included, such as lettering or numbers.
