This technique uses 1x2 bracket pieces, attached to plates that are upside down. Each 1x2 bracket piece is placed one plate higher, and this allows you to place certain bricks in the gaps created such as the 1x2x1 wall element and 1x2 slope. This creates a unique stepped appearance that could be used for grills or stairs.
When wall brackets are used, the thin profile of the brick is the only thing showing, so a unique staircase can be created. Other pieces such as 1x2 slopes can be attached, and this again creates a unique texture could spice up your MOC and look much better than just stacking plates.
