LEGO as a children’s toy means it can have an impact in people’s development in our real world. Today, we explore how police and crime have been represented in LEGO themes and ask what that means for children. We also present some suggestions and ideas for how LEGO could handle this topic in the future.

For me, I'm not a huge fan of the "crook" element currently. It always seems like the police are massively overfunded for the bad guys they're after. But I don't think you can make it nicer by removing them - anyone in a police Lego set is getting arrested sooner or later, just imagine if you put some protesters in a set! Also, it still reinforces the idea that police in the real world are good guys on your side.
Perhaps the separation would go better by making it more cartoony. Imagine the crooks showing up in mechs, or with 6 wheeled super-vehicles! More like Dr Robotnik than poor people looking to make a quick buck.
