Review of Part 1 Scoring from Post 2337 Part Selection. Holy recolors, Batman! This set has two new molds, four new prints, and an astonishing forty one recolors! We don’t even have room to show you the rare parts! Tips&Bricks Score is 5 out of 5 for parts selection. Minifigs. 21 minifigs, each with new or rare parts, flesh out the markets nicely. There are both vendors and Ninjago characters, including the exclusive appearance of Chamille and the new release of Detective Zane! This scores 5 out of 5 for minifigures. Display Value. Ninjago City Markets covers two full baseplates, creating quite the impressive display. Whether by itself or as part of the larger Ninjago City, this set doesn’t disappoint! This set scored 5 out of 5 for Display Value. Value for Money. Between the excellent price per part ratio and the inherent resale value the Ninjago City sets have shown, this is absolutely a worthwhile purchase. This scored 5 out of 5 for Value for Money. Continue to see our Techniques breakdown!

Technique for the Baseplate Foundation. Ninjago Markets spreads across two 32x32 baseplates. Technic bricks use pins to provide stability for columns and larger structures. Lily pads anchor into the baseplate with a bar from the plant stem. Like other Ninjago City sets, this is set on the water. Be ready to put down lots of 1x2 trans-light blue tiles! Graphic includes pictures of how to build lily pads and the two baseplate foundations that combine to form the set.

Technique for Interior Accessibility. While box art shows each level is removable, we found it easy to accidentally dislodge something when doing so. Thankfully, each room also features pull-out sections that allow for looks at the interiors. Picture includes an inside look at the panels that can be removed from some of the rooms.

Technique for Interior Furniture. Each unique interior serves a different purpose with different furniture. Our top two favorite interior builds were the pool table and stored-goods shelf. Graphic includes step by step pictures of building the pool table and the shelf.

Technique for the toilet

The flushable toilet is an iconic feature of this set.

This clever technic construction works similar to real toilets. Flushing the lever pushes down a flap, which releases the excrement, depicted with a 1x1 round tile in reddish brown. The rubber gasket then pushes the flap back into place.

Graphic shows the part used for the toilet seat, as well as a video of the mechanics working.

Technique for Window Boxes. No two markets share the same window boxes! Some truly clever techniques, including upside-down construction, are used. The flower boxes make use of a mining skirt and petals from the Botanical set! Graphic includes depictions of four different window boxes.

Techniques for the Angled Bridge. The red bridge sits at the center of the market, attached with turntables to achieve its angle. The bridge uses plates and arches for the foundation. The decoration cleverly hides technic components, including a flexible hose. Graphic includes pictures of the bridge, including a breakdown of the bridge ornamentation.

Technique for the Cable Car.

Cable car makes use of slopes, plates, and SNOT bricks. The cable car rails anchor into the cherry blossom tree. Slowly hand turn the gear wheel in order to move the cable car between levels.

The graphic includes a picture of the cable car breakdown and a video of the cable car slowly moving between levels.

Technique for signs.

Ninjago Logograms (LEGO’s special lettering) attach to a rollercoaster rail track using jumpers. According to Bricklink, the sign reads “SUSHIMI.”

Graphic shows a picture of a rollercoaster track with plates and stickers.

Ninjago Markets provides an excellent building experience with varied techniques that will impress both novice and experienced AFOL. We can’t recommend this set enough! This set earned 5 out of 5 for building techniques.

We barely scratched the surface of features and building techniques! If you built the set, what was your favorite?

A 25/25 score from T&B is rare! Will you be picking up this set?
