#2397 MOC OF THE WEEK: Topic Feature: Warhammer the Old World Warhammer Fantasy was a tabletop war game published by Games Workshop. Now it returned as the Old World! Just like it’s sci-fi brother, it also makes for some cool LEGO MOCs! Featured builds: Mother Ostankya and a brickbuilt Thing from the woods by @karp_brick Karak Kadrin, a gigantic dwarf hold bild with parts of the mountain visible, by @dwalinforkbeard A Slann diorama, with a brickbuilt Slann and his army marching through a jungle, by @Jaskierthebard Check out some other amazing designs!

The Empire sits in the heart of the Old World as a nation of mankind, but it’s also a home to dwarfs, elves, ogres, gnomes, halflings and many more! Its aesthetic is inspired by the Holy Roman Empire. The different provinces of the nation, like the Reikland or Middenland, often fall into a bloody civil war. The cult of Sigmar with the grand theogonist at its top is one of many different cults among the Empire and it worships the nation’s founder: Sigmar Heldenhammer The foundries of Nuln produce many great technological marbles of the Empire, like the Steam-tank or the Marienburg landship. Featured builds: Minifigure build of the grand theogonist Volkmar the Grim @Jaskierthebard A bunch of empire grand cannons, they use the tire 50945 on top of the barrel to create the raised bits of the cannon by @Jaskierthebard

To the east of the Empire lies the tzardom of Kislev. Ruled by the tzarina Kattarin the Bloody, an Ice Witch with powerful magic. Terrible magic creatures and gospodars cavalry on bears hold the line against demonic invaders from the north. Featured builds: Mother Ostankya and a brickbuilt Thing from the woods which use white minifigure hands as bones and theeths by @karp_brick A diorama where the tzarina and her men fight a bunch of Khorne deamons by @Jaskierthebard A gospodarian rider sitting on top of an Ice bear with fake wings similar to the ones of the Winged hussards using white minifigure hands as feathers, by @Jaskierthebard

The Vampire Counts and necromancers have infiltrated most societies in the Old World. Restless Blood lines like the Carstein’s have even become the rulers of the Empire’s province of Sylvania Featured builds: A Corpse cart build pulled by zombies, on a pole sits a screaming corpse which uses the red sausage piece as trailing entrails, by @Jaskierthebard A Black coach pulled by undead horses by @Jaskierthebard A Terrorgheist with a vampire rider on top, the bat monster uses the wings from the Ninjago set 71727, by @Jaskierthebard

The mighty Dwarf empire once stretched across the world, but after a terrible age of war against the empire of the Elves a lot of their strongholds known as the Karaks lay in ruin. Featured builds: Karak Kadrin, a gigantic dwarf hold bild with parts of the mountain visible, by @dwalinforkbeard Queen Fireman in Karak Izûm, the queen kneels in front of a big stone statue, by@dwalinforkbeard Thane Rori Dulgisson, a big dwarf warrior build holding a warhammer, by @dwalinforkbeard

The Dwarfs will not let their grudges remain unsettled and so mighty armies accompanied by mighty inventions like the Orgel gun or the Thunder barge march against enemies like the Ratmen from below known as the Skaven! Featured builds: A dark green Gyrobomber by @dwalinforkbeard A smaller dark green Gyrocopter, both are steampunk Helicopters, by @dwalinforkbeard Long ago the Dwarfs of the chaos waste were abandoned by their western kin and only survived by pledging their lives to an eldritch entity known as Hashut. Their great creations are no longer restricted by the weakness of their cousins and so millions of slaves create weapons of unbelievable destructivity in gigantic factories. Featured builds: A brick built Chaos dwarf by @dwalinforkbeard A bunch of Chaos dwarf, Hobgoblin and Greenskin “labourer” minifigures by @Jaskierthebard

From inside its own borders the Empire is in constant danger from invasions of the tainted Beastmen. Goat-headed Gors and gigantic Minotaurs. They gather in giant war herds and wish to destroy all traces of civilization in the name of their dark masters. Featured builds: Two Beastmen builds using the goat heads from the Thor Goatboat set 76208 by @karp_brick The humans of Norsca live in a inhospitable environment and so to survive they lead great raiding parties into the lands of the Empire and Bretonnia. They are best described as heavy metal Vikings and often join chaotic armies on their way south. Featured builds: A war mammoth and a bunch of norscans besides an icy lake by @Jaskierthebard

Ogres, my Lord! These creatures are plagued with an unstoppable hunger, but are very accepting and live in most other nations where they work as mercenaries. Featured builds: A rotting crab known as a Leviathan with zombie pirates on top by @Jaskierthebard Fortune favours the infamous and the pirates of the Vampire Coast live in true infamy. Their gigantic fleets are supported by undead marine creatures, like this leviathan, and after an engagement, there is a nice influx of new crew members. Featured builds: A war mammoth and a bunch of norscans besides an icy lake by @Jaskierthebard

The Lizardmen of the New World are an incredibly old and coldblooded race. Their leaders, the Slann, are powerful enough to move entire mountains with their magic, but are unbelievably sluggish. So, their servants, the Skinks and Saurus are left on their own most of the time and desperately try to keep the great plan, that was left behind by their creators, in motion. They have a Mesoamerican design inspiration. Featured builds: A Slann diorama, with a brickbuilt Slann and his army marching through a jungle. The Slann has the arms of the LEGO Dinosaurs. Build by @Jaskierthebard A big tree with some unlucky explorers from the empire running away from a skink chief on a Terradon. The Terradon, a big flying reptile, uses the wings from the Avatar set 75572. MOC by @Jaskierthebard

Warhammer Fantasy’s influence on LEGO: The Battle Dwarf from LEGO’s CMF series looks to very much inspired by the Slayer Dwarfs from Warhammer with his bare chest and red mohawk. Slayer Dwarfs have brought great shame on themselves and to find redemption they seek a glorious death in battle. The iconic green orc with a big chin was actually first featured and popularized by Warhammer, before that pinkish to brown colour schemes were more prevalent. Nowadays that design mentality is obviously widespread and so the design of this Orc isn’t specific to Warhammer anymore. Still some of the CMF Orcs seem to be influenced by Warhammer. Go check out the creators Insta, Link is in the description and some of them even offer instructions for sale for some of these builds.
