Now here’s an animal MOC to get your paws on! This adorable puppy MOC is packed with built textures and SNOT techniques!

Featured build:

Image shows the black and white dog MOC sitting. This canine companion is a great example of using colour and gradients in your MOCs! The dog has black and white fur, but look at the different colours that go into the fur: The dog has a colour palette besides it, including each colour used in the build. Each colour is represented by a 1x1 brick. The colour palette features Black, Dark Bluish Gray, Light Bluish Gray, Cream and White. Image shows a close up image of the chest of the dog. The fur uses different slope parts of different colours, from Dark Bluish Gray to Light Bluish Gray to White. The use of different colours creates gradients across the build’s fur, letting it feel more natural and real!

Image shows a close up of the dog’s head, with the medium azure collar around the neck. Arrow points to Barb / Claw / Horn / Tooth - Medium, part 87747. Arrow points to Barb / Claw / Horn / Tooth - Small, part 53451. Claws and horns in different sizes add a nice fur tuft to the top of the head! Arrow points to Plate, Round 4 x 4 x 2/3 with Star and Open Stud, part 39611. Arrow points to Bracelet with 2 x 14 Studs and 5 Holes, part 66821. The collar uses a bracelet (66821) from the DOTS line! The rubber material can fit perfectly around the neck. Image of set 41900-1, Bracelet, Rainbow from DOTS. This Medium Azure version appeared in 3 sets, starting with the Rainbow Bracelet (41900-1) in 2020!

Image shows another close up of the dog head. Arrow points to Cylinder Hemisphere 4 x 4, part 86500. Arrow points to Arch 1 x 3 x 2, part 88292, on the dog head. These arches fit over the eyes to create a sideways build for the distinct eyebrows! Image shows a close up of the eyes on the dog, focusing on the eyebrow build above the eyes. A small build breakdown shows each part used for each side of the eyebrow. On the left side, the build features a Light Bluish Gray Slope 30 1 x 1 x 2/3, part 54200, a Light Bluish Gray Plate 1 x 1, part 3024 and a Dark Bluish Gray Plate 1 x 1, part 3024. On the right side, the build features a Light Bluish Gray Slope 30 1 x 1 x 2/3, part 54200, a White Plate, Modified 1 x 1 with Tooth Vertical, part 15070 and a Dark Bluish Gray Plate 1 x 1, part 3024. Notice how the eyebrow use different colours and parts? There are little changes in symmetrical parts across the build to make the fur look more natural! Arrow points to Slope 18 4 x 1, part 60477. Slope parts create long fur from the dog’s chin, using two SNOT built layers.

Image shows a close up of the chest and body of the dog MOC. The layers of white fur use texture to stand out from the rest of the body. Arrow points to Slope, Curved 2 x 1 x ⅔, part 11477. Arrow points to Plate, Modified 1 x 1 with Tooth Horizontal, part 49668. Arrow points to Slope 45 2 x 1 with 2/3 Cutout, part 92946. The use of slopes and curved slopes gives the build a smooth surface, while the dark fur of the body has more studs exposed.

Image shows a close up of the front of the body of the dog, showing the front legs standing straight. The front legs have a diamond-like shape, extending from the main base of the body! Arrow points to Wedge, Plate 4 x 2 Right, part 41769. Arrow points to Wedge, Plate 3 x 2 Right, part 43722. The legs are built mainly using slopes and wedge plates, before smoothing into the top of the paws. Arrow points to Slope, Curved 2 x 1 x 1 1/3 with Recessed Stud, part 6091. Curved slopes (6091) form the shape of each toe on these paws. Like chest fur, the smooth texture helps the shape of the foot to be clear against the leg builds.

Image shows a close up image of the back of the dog’s body and the tail. Arrows point to the angle of the back, and how the body is built. The body’s shape is built plate by plate to give the fur and body a natural shape – it builds the shape very gradually! Image shows a close up of the tail build of the dog MOC. Arrow points to Arch 1 x 3 x 3, part 13965. A sideways build of the tail uses black arches (13965) and bricks laid flat on the floor, letting the tail protrude from the body.

Images show a variety of different LEGO MOCs. Image shows a cream and white dog MOC, built in the same style as the black and white dog. Image shows a MOC brick built figure of Taz the Tasmanian Devil. Image shows a close up of a white cockatoo bird MOC with yellow feathers and a black beak. @timofey_tkachev has created another dog MOC, and other amazing animals and creatures too! What was your favourite detail? And which animal would you build?
