We’re back with the second and final part of our Great Deku Tree review! This time, we’ll be pointing out all the references you might’ve missed and talking about that price. If there are any easter eggs you noticed that we skipped, let us know in the comments!

We’re back to finish off our review of the 77092 Great Deku Tree 2-in-1 set! This time, we’ll be pointing out all the references you might’ve missed. The set is priced at $299.99/£259.99/€299.99 for 2500 parts.

The text on Link’s sign can be translated from Hylian script to English as "Information just for you, It’s a secret to everybody." This is a recurring phrase found in most Zelda games, dating back to the NES and continuing through to Tears of the Kingdom.

While the Zelda games are only loosely connected in terms of storyline, the Great Deku Tree is a recurring character, appearing in multiple titles such as Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker, Breath of the Wild, and Tears of the Kingdom. In Ocarina of Time, the Great Deku Tree serves as the guardian spirit of the Kokiri Forest, acting as the first dungeon and setting Link on his quest to defeat Ganondorf. Almost 10,000 years later in Breath of the Wild, the Great Deku Tree acts as the ancient protector of Korok Forest and the Master Sword, offering guidance and shelter to Link during his journeys. Two of the three Links in this set are completely different characters, with the third being a younger version of the Link from Ocarina of Time. Confused? Don’t worry about it! The Zelda series has a reputation for having a crazy timeline.

Compared to the game, the Ocarina of Time Deku Tree’s meadow is far lusher. This build retains the water from the Breath of the Wild version, with smaller roots giving the tree a different overall shape.

Navi is included with studs to represent her different statuses: Neutral, Hint, and Targeting. The gossip stone is tucked among the tree roots, the exact same spot as in the game! The inside of the Deku Tree has a torch and an item chest.

On one side of the tree, you can find the fairy bow with studs representing the three types of arrows from Ocarina of Time (fire, ice, and light). On the other side, music notes show how to play Saria’s song, one of the ocarina songs from the game.

The brick-built characters are some of the better ones we’ve seen in recent years, likely due to the original designs being fairly blocky. Featured characters include a Deku Baba, Skulltula, and the Deku Sprout.

The Breath of the Wild Deku Tree is scaled down significantly, yet it still manages to be even more accurate than the Ocarina of Time build. The crown of the Deku Tree stands out as a great example of the set’s accuracy and detail.

The Great Deku Tree’s navel is filled with details and references, including a cooking pot, an item frequently seen in the game. There’s a great build for Hestu, whose maracas have loose studs that make noise when shaken. Koroks are also included, and they’re not in short supply, just like in the game!

The accuracy doesn’t just stop with the creatures in this model either, there’s a whole host of plants pulled right from the game too! The accuracy doesn’t just stop with the creatures in this model either, there’s a whole host of plants pulled right from the game too! Plus, we wanted to leave a few things for you to discover yourselves! Even though the set made some minor compromises to accommodate its two builds and still be a reasonable size, the amount of care and attention to detail more than make up for any of its shortcomings. Even the most die-hard Zelda fan will be satisfied by this set’s level of accuracy.

The price-per-part in this set comes out to an awful 12¢. This already makes the set a tough sell, but what makes it worse is that over 300 of the pieces aren’t even used in the Ocarina of time build! We hate to end the review on a sour note, but we just can’t give this set anything higher than a two. It’s a shame that such an anticipated release is such a bad deal, but the bigger shame is that a lot of fans still wouldn’t be able to afford it even if the price-per-part was good! That’s all for now, but we have a lot more to say about this set’s pricing.
