#2508 MOC OF THE WEEK: Bricks Stuck in Time by @steinmanzachary

You might be wondering, 'Why are we calling a random pile of bricks our MOC of the week?' However, if you look closely, you'll notice some great techniques at play! Let’s dive into the details and explore the innovative methods used in this design by @steinmanzachary.

#2508 MOC OF THE WEEK: Bricks Stuck in Time by @steinmanzachary Want to know how all these bricks are suspended in the air? Well we’ve got the answers! These falling bricks might look like they’re frozen in time, but they're actually mounted to the backdrop using some clever techniques.

Still have a bunch of those old pick-a-brick cups laying around? From 2002 up until early this year, just about all LEGO stores offered reusable plastic cups for their Pick-a-Brick walls. Now that they’ve been replaced by cardboard boxes, it’s fun to look back at one of their uses that LEGO never intended: MOC building!

These might just look like regular bricks, but every single one of them has some sort of clever modification to attach them to the back wall. Pole connections are used so the bricks can be posed at dynamic angles; including 32828 and 65578.

To accommodate all these connections, the back of the MOC is built up with a bunch of Technic bricks. There’s one attachment that’s noticeably different, and that’s because it’s actually a 61184 flick-fire missile attached to a technic block to give the illusion of a sideways brick!

A really simple hinge build at the top of the build holds the Pick-a-Brick cup in place; there’s just a two-plate tall slot for the cup to loosely slide into. The top plate has some studs that allow for some interesting connections; mainly a pair of 32828 used to invert bricks.

This build was made by Zachary Steinman, whose name you might recognize from one of his incredible cube builds.Today’s MOC is definitely a change of pace for him! If you want to see his work up close, you can find him on instagram at @steinmanzachary.

That’s all for our MOC of the Week, we hope you enjoyed today’s post! Missed the memo about Pick-a-Brick ditching the cups? Don’t worry, we did a post covering the news and analyzing the new boxes!
