#2566 MOC OF THE WEEK: Samus Aran and Zero Suit Samus @eerookkonen

#2566 MOC OF THE WEEK: Samus Aran and Zero Suit Samus by @eerookkonen Builder Eero Okkonen is back with two incredible MOCS for one iconic character; let’s take a look!

Samus is a galactic bounty hunter and the main character of the Metroid series of video games. Most of the time, she wears her Varia Suit; a powerful but sleek suit of armor that allows her to use all sorts of different abilities. Occasionally, Samus will shed her Varia Suit and wear her Zero suit instead.

There are some great techniques and some really obscure partsuses in the Varia Suit. Like these Clickits (15535) being used as the ring lights on her suit, 4592 antena pieces and 78c102 flex tube being used as the piping on her suit, 15535 18674 and 15395 being used in her arm cannon, and 2815 thin tires used to hide the joints.

The types of joints being used are also very clever. The elbows use Technic elements to invert the studs, the knees use ball joints integrated into a small Technic build, and the ankles stick with Bionicle parts.

This MOC is actually a refreshed version of one of Eero’s builds from eight years ago. A lot of the build is basically the same, but the new elements, new recolors, and updated techniques really helped smooth out the model.

Zero Suit Samus also has some great part usage and techniques, like the older style of hinges being used on her waist.

There are a very limited number of elements available in metallic silver, and this MOC takes full advantage of them for Zero Suit Samus’s paralyzer pistol. 11254 roller skate elements have clutch on their rounded face, allowing this build to be possible

This is the third revision of Eero’s Zero Suit Samus model. The hair, face, and arms share a few techniques between the original versions and the most recent, but otherwise this is a completely new model! From 2013, to 2016, to 2024, she got quite the makeover!
