Bought a set duplicate? Itching to build more? Here’s a guide to alt builds on Rebrickable!
What ARE alt builds you ask? ALT BUILDS take official sets and provide alternate building ideas. Rebrickable is a website that hosts instructions made by fellow AFOLs. Some are free; some cost. This is a great way to breathe life into old sets and to find ways to build more with what you already have!
Searching on Rebrickable. When looking for alt builds, it’s an easy 3 step process: First, go to Rebrickable.com and click the search button. Then enter your set number or name. Finally, click “Alt Build” or the gavel. We like to think of it as smashing bricks into a new design!
Options on Rebrickable. There are 3 different types of builds to choose from: Alternative Builds use just one set. Partial Builds use multiple copies of a set. And Modifications use a set plus extras.
Building a display. @daytonbrickshop used Rebrickable for ideas to help build their medieval village on display.
@interactivebricks says: “Rebrickable has been an awesome resource to expand my building experiences. Just know that the alt builds are put together by LEGO fans and are not bound by LEGO’s internal building rules. Some models may not be as sturdy as you’re expecting. But overall, I’ve been very pleased.” The Creator 3in1 line has excellent variety when it comes to alt builds being available! Have you tried any Rebrickable alt builds?
